Overview

Noor Al-Imaan is an offline-first Islamic companion on Google Play. It covers prayer times, qibla, Quran reading and tracking, azkar, tasbeeh, hadith, challenges, and live Quran radio with high and low quality options. Multiple Play Store releases — 12 releases noted on the public GitHub profile.

What I built

  • Clean Architecture / MVVM with BLoC, Firebase, Cloud Firestore, and SQLite for offline-first data.
  • 85% size reduction through offline-first caching, plus background services, alarms, cloud sync, and download management.
  • Python / ffmpeg pipeline packaging 114 surahs per reciter across 8 reciters, with SHA-256 manifests and validation reports.
  • Scheduled GitHub Actions: monthly Firestore leaderboard reset with dry-run mode, and daily quiz-bot updates.
  • Word-timing alignment tool covered by a unittest suite (tokenization, timing refinement, validation). Used a cloud VM to batch-transcribe recitations. In that tool: PyTorch, torchaudio, and Hugging Face Transformers (wav2vec2 CTC alignment).
